On February 13th, Delta Sigma Phi- Delta Mu unveiled Delta Dunk. Delta Dunk is a 5-on-5 tournament in field basketball, with some house rules thrown in for good measure. The goal of Delta Dunk is to score as many points as possible in five minutes by dunking a ball into a trash can. This event marked the first time Delta Sigma Phi has held a philanthropy event on campus since our return three years ago. Every competitor received a Delta Dunk T-shirt along with their registration fee, and there were sets of cornhole, spike ball, and can jam for everyone to play when they weren’t dunking their opponents.

In addition, we hosted two food trucks- Rice Balls of Fire and Surfer Taco, who brought different food than students are used to on to campus to enjoy. When the dust cleared and all was settled, three teams were named the winners of the women’s, men’s, and coed bracket, with each competitor on the winning team being awarded a $10 amazon gift card for their prowess on the field. In total, Delta Sigma Phi raised over $500 for the American Red Cross, our National Philanthropy partner. We’re very excited to continue to run this event in the future as our annual philanthropy event!

Spring Fundraising Events

With the help of LMU's very own Lair, Delta Sig hosted a buffet-style pasta night to help fundraising for fraternity brotherhood events. Below we see KJ Davis and Randolph Abaya holding up a sign to get the word out!

Additionally, a fundraiser was held at Benny's for our new Eta class. Set up and advertised by Eta class, the event was meant to raise money for Eta class' own brotherhood activities, meant to strengthen brotherly bonds and build closer ties to each other as well as the fraternity as a whole. Although they didn't have nearly as good of a sign, Eta class still had a very successful event with the help of Benny's Rotisserie!

Alumni BBQ at the Bird's Nest

On March 19th, the chapter held an Alumni BBQ at the Bird's Nest on campus. Coordinated by Jad Ghawi, the event allowed members new and old alike to swap stories about the fraternity and the legendary old beach house.

The food for the event was provided by Hubert Lorenz, also known as the Culinary Wizard, who also happens to be the father of our very own Alexander Lorenz. With good food, good company, and a beautiful day, the BBQ was a resounding success, marking another new event that will set precedent for future semesters. Thank you to both the Lorenz family as well as Jad Ghawi for coming together to bring us such a fun event!
